Taylor Music in downtown Yakima specializes in guitar sales and repair as well as in music lessons for guitar, bass, piano, and voice. We are proud to offer some of the finest brands of new guitars as well as a selection of used gear. Our staff of highly skilled instructors are all seasoned performers and enthused to share their love of music!
Our Story
Taylor Music is Yakima’s oldest music store! On June 1st 1936 Al Maletta started “Maletta Music” as a studio for accordion lessons and sales. Al was a well known accordion player in central Washington having performed on KIT Radio and started the brand Diamond Accordions with his brother. In the 1950’s Al brought on Bob Deccio as a partner in the store. The name was changed to “Maletta Deccio Music” and they diversified the store into guitars and other instruments.
On June 1st 1994 Gary Taylor bought the store and gave it the name it has today! Gary started playing music in 4th grade with the trumpet before picking up guitar and playing in bands all over the northwest. Before buying the store he had a successful career in retail management. Pairing his experience in retail and music Gary helped bring on new teachers and expand the selection of guitars. Al and Bob kept teaching for many years.
